The Trail Boss 2.4 & 2.6 tyre has been revamped with a more aggressive tread, tougher casing and more durability when you’re riding trail or enduro on loose terrain.
Featuring tread that offers bite and speed, with siping to drain water and add grip, you can ‘set and forget’ this rear-focused tyre.
It features WTB’s Tritec compound, which means it now uses three forms of rubber to offer the perfect blend of traction, support and durability. Thus, the whole tyre is underpinned by supportive, high durometer rubber, while the toothy, tightly grouped central knobs are made from medium durometer rubber, which offers traction and durability without compromising rolling speed.
Meanwhile, the substantial side knobs, which overhand the sidewall to protect it from slashes and provide traction while cornering, are made from a softer, slower rebounding rubber that moulds to the ground for extra control and grip.
All the knobs are siped, horizontally in the case of the central and intermediate knobs, parallel to the tyre in the case of the outer knobs. The former sipes increase the amount of working edges the maximise the traction during stretches of intense pedalling and braking, while the latter deliver extra grip while you’re cornering.
Made for tubeless setup, this tyre features a choice of light yet durable single-ply casing that offers cornering support and puncture resistance or strong, duel-ply casing that offers extra protection and reinforcement. Both types provide some sidewall support and puncture resistance, while the TCS light casing may optionally be reinforced by the addition of SG2 puncture protection.
Now even more tough, yet swift and drag resistant, this wide tyre with its aggressive teeth, generously spaced to offer traction in all weather conditions, “thoroughly impressed” the testers at pinkbike and will give you the confidence you need to push your limits on the trail.
